Quality Management at the Manufacturing Plant

Ambiance Tree Farm endeavours to ensure the highest quality of products from its factories. Our utility poles are manufactured from well-matured trees of up to 8 years. We are seeking certification from the International Standards Organisation (ISO), and manufacture based on standards set by the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS), the Rural Electrification Agency for Uganda(REA), and the Uganda Electricity Distribution Company (UEDCL). We apply the highest standards of quality and professionalism throughout our processes. We endeavor to supply poles that meet specifications that are inspected and approved before loading or any other approved inspection unit. They through processes like grading and selection to select only non-deffect, matured, and strong poles, we measure existing defects on poles to ensure the lowest level of defect in the final product, we do strength tests to ensure that the tree will produce a pole that can last for a reasonable amount of time, we measure the moisture content at time of treatment of the poles, and the depth of penetration of the preservatives to ensure that the poles were not weakened by these chemicals. We apply five major preservatives including Pentachlorophenol (Penta), Chromated Copper Arsenate (CCA), Copper Naphthenate (CuN), Creosote and Ammoniacal Copper Zinc Arsenate (ACZA or Chemonite). Each of these preservatives are approved and regulated by the US Environmental Protection Agency and UNBS.

After trees are harvested and brought to the factory, they undergo a procedury process until they are ready for market as listed

  • They undergo regulated temperature drying which is monitored to follow the standards
  • They are put into the pressure machine to disperse the chemical into the logs
  • The chemical penetration s checked to ensure the standard is met and if not the log is put back in the machine
